Vermin Twins | Exoskeleton video

Earlier this year the Vermin Twins (Micha Volders and Lotte Vanhamel) released their intriguing and innovative debute album “Exoskeleton” which was a cocktail of freestyle experimental pop, dance and electronica with an avantgarde edge. Now they have released a video for the title track of this album.

This is what they said themselves, on their Facebook page, about this new video:

“Vermin Twins made a new video for “exoskeleton” just for fun! No budget, no crew, no hifi equipment but a handheld digital camera and a lot of work!”

We think the video is a fascinating and strong piece of work and it shows that their talent also applies in the visual presentation of their music. Creating this level of work with minimal resources is something you don’t see a lot these days. With virtual no budget, Lotte and Micha manage to create the full package in this video: music, sound, dance and visuals melt into a strong and exciting performance.

Nosaj Thing | the master live at work

In the above video the Los Angeles based noise conductor Nosaj Thing performs an improvised Dj Set live on Kexp. It is very inspiring to see the master musical modulator create his electronic soundscapes and wild beat tectonics in the studio of Kexp radio. We like this very much.

The Vermin Twins are a very intriguing and innovative Belgian duo made up out of Micha Volders and Lotte Vanhamel. The music they make is a cocktail of freestyle experimental pop, dance and electronica with an avantgarde edge.

The description on their website about them says: ‘Vermin Twins like melody and rhythm, jumping insects and funky mysteries. Vermin Twins like to sing and dance, scream and jump or slap the bass with a big fat thumb.’

And for sure they make this description come true with their fascinating act of electronic musical “dancescapes”.

Listen below to the track called “Suffocate” from their debute album “Exoskeleton” which was released on the 25Th of March, 2010.

This post contains some snapshots which give an impression of the vernissage party and of the currently running fashion exposition, called Ultramegalore, curated by Belgian model Hannelore Knuts.

Director Kenneth Ramaekers of Het Modemuseum Hasselt (The Fashion Museum Hasselt) has asked Hannelore to assemble an exhibition that gives the visitors a glimpse into her universe that reaches further than just fashion. She turned it into a crystallisation of what motivated and inspired her during her 10 year career as a top model. Hannelore has made a compilation of her favourite designers, photographers, artists and musicians. People she has met along the way, that have inspired her or at least have left an indelible impression on her. Regardless of whether they are ‘in’ or not. She wants to share these impressions the way she collected them. A cluster of encounters, a mass of impacts.She approached her role as curator like a stylist who endlessly combines different brands, second-hand clothes and personal accessories. The exhibition is not a tribute to or a retrospective of ’the model’ Hannelore. Instead it is a confrontational look into her small world, motivated by great things, and vice versa. With her view and approach Hannelore has turned this exposition into a very inspiring fashion experience.

The exposition in Het Modemuseum Hasselt (The Fashion Museum Hasselt) will run until the 6Th June 2010.

Exhibition: Showstudio, Fashion revolution

Showstudio has staged a major exhibition at the London Somerset House called: Showstudio: Fashion revolution. This exhibition is a retrospective of nine years of online innovation, invention and creation and it challenges conventional perceptions of fashion imagery.

The exhibition is divided into various segments called: process, performance, participation and fashion film. It opens the process of image-making up to the public – by putting a live, working photographic studio within the exhibition space, to be used by top photographers including Nick Knight of Showstudio himself. Knight will also shoot 100 portraits of London’s ‘beau monde’; models, actors, musicians and artists – and will show a programme of new Fashion Films, specially commissioned by Showstudio for Fashion Revolution.

The exhibition will run untill the 20th of December 2009
