Daniel Rozin | The wooden mirror

Interactive artist Daniel Rozin creates fascinating mirrors with unreflective surfaces. The below video shows one of his creations, “the wooden mirror”. This mirror uses 830 square pieces of wood which are hooked up to an equal number of small motors which move the wooden blocks according to a built in camera. The camera picks up the movement in front of the mirror and transfers the signal to the wood tiles which results in an eerie representation of reality depicted in small wooden pixels.

Juergen Teller Go-Sees interview

An already older but still interesting video interview with photographer Juergen Teller for TateShots, the Youtube channel of the Tate Modern Art gallery.
Juergen Teller turned his lens on the fashion industry with his Go-Sees series. Weary of the hype generated by model agencies desperate to sell him the ‘next big thing’, he decided to take the picture of every girl that came to see him on the doorstep of his studio. In this interview, Teller tells Tateshots how the resulting photographs expose the troubling power of the male photographer.

Frederic Geurts architectural, monumental, dialogue and balance

The work of the Belgian artist Frederic Geurts consists of monumental, but very fragile architectural structures, in which the artist goes to the extreme in exploring the boundaries of the force of gravity and the materiality of the structures.

Frederic Geurts: “I cannot act in a vacuum. I need context. I would like to play and interact with the environment. Both the spatial architectural aspects as well as the meaning of a place are important. In that sense, I am more  a designer. Like for example an architect who starts creating after he has received a package of demands given by his client. I create such a demands program for myself.”

In the below, Dutch spoken, video Frederic Geurts gives a few days before the opening of his most recent exhibition called (un)balanced a tour to Jan Boelen the artistic director of the Z33 art centre.
