Per and Bastian are the driving force behind Humans since 1982. Since 2009 the Studio creates fascinating works of design.
”Collection of light” is a striking example of their approach and vision. This conceptual design is basically a collection of various types of industrial produced LED’s which are “collected” and archived just like a collection of butterflies or like plants and flowers in a botanic herbarium. The LED’s are all labeled by name, size and colour temperature and carefully archived in a cabinet. They are arranged in a specific order to accomplish a harmonic light composition. The result is a piece of conceptual design which makes an interesting contradicting statement. On one hand the “collection of light” forms a functional lamp itself and exposes each LED as a worthy industrial product and on the other hand it places the LED’s in another, autonomous, context and turns them into “Ready Mades”, similar to for example Marcel Duchamp’s Bottle Rack.
